Month of safar12/8/2023 The above Ahadith clearly prove that the month of Safar does not have any special characteristics. "No 'Adwa nor Safar, Allah created every soul and wrote its life, livelihood and trials." It is narrated from Ibn Masoud that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: no contagious disease is conveyed to others without Allah's permission) nor (any evil omen in the month of) Safar nor Hama." A bedouin said, "O Allah's Apostle! What about the camels which, when on the sand (desert) look like deers, but when a mangy camel mixes with them they all get infected with mange?" On that Allah's Apostle said, "Then who conveyed the (mange) disease to the first (mangy) camel?" Abu Hurairah (Radiya Allahu Anhu) reported from the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) that he said: The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) condemned what is said about this month. The month of Safar is like all other months. Know that a Muslim must safeguard his faith and keep it away from myths and superstitions. We supplicate Allah to bless us to follow the right Sunnah. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. In fact, man is in a test all the time and should always trust in Allah swt, supplicate Him and show patience.Is there any thing special in month of Safar, because people are saying that this month Allah sends many problems for his slaves? Is it true that we are supposed to pray specific prayers to protect our selves and we are not supposed to marry or have any other happy occasion? The troubles and problems are created by Allah (swt) as a result of His Divine decree. And if any one believes in Allah, ((Allah)) guides his heart (aright): for Allah knows all things.” (Surah al Tagabun, 11) “No kind of calamity can occur, except by the leave of Allah. They don’t have any effect upon people’s lives. However, all days and months belong to Allah (swt) and they do not have any power to give benefit or harm. No affliction comes about but by Allah's permission nor is there any bad omen (from birds), nor is there any Hamah, nor is there any bad omen in the month of safar, and one should run away from the leper as one runs away from a lion '' (Bukari Medicine 608) '(There is) no 'Adwa (no contagious disease is conveyed without Allah's permission). Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, There is no bad omen in the month of Safar In the morning of the 4th of Dhul-Hijja, the Prophet and his companions reached Mecca, assuming Ihram for Hajj and he ordered his companions to make their intentions of the Ihram for 'Umra only (instead of Hajj) so they considered his order as something great and were puzzled, and said, "O Allah's Apostle! What kind (of finishing) of Ihram is allowed?" The Prophet replied, "Finish the Ihram completely like a non-Muhrim (you are allowed everything)." (Bukhari Book 26, Hadith 635) sacred) month and they used to say, "When the wounds of the camel's back heal up (after they return from Hajj) and the signs of those wounds vanish and the month of safar passes away then (at that time) 'Umra is permissible for the one who wishes to perform it." And also used to consider the month of safar as a forbidden (i.e. “The people (of the Pre-lslamic Period) used to think that to perform 'Umra during the months of Hajj was one of the major sins on earth. The Messenger of Allah swt stated “Umrah is halal (permissible) all the time.” (Bukhari) Moreover, it was counted as of the major sins to perform umrah in the month of Safar. There are also other narrations saying “safar” was believed to be an infectious stomach disease of people or animals or it referred to the month of Safar and they believed to have misfortune in that month. They believed that weddings had in Safar would end in divorce any business, deeds done in Safar would turn out vain, anything started in this month would result in bad luck.Īrabs assumed that there was a snake in their stomach called “safar” which, when got hungry, bit them and made them suffer torture. Safar is the second of the twelve hijri months.īefore Islam, Safar was regarded as a month of bad luck and trouble among the people of Jahiliyyah. There were many superstitions during the Era of Jahiliyyah (ignorance) about the month of Safar.
